Healthy chocolate crackles recipe

This delightful Healthy Chocolate Crackles recipe has been kindly contributed to Little Peeps Eats by the lovely Jen from Happy Little Minis

Kid’s parties are fun but they can easily get out of control with all the sugar, not to mention the
artificial colours, flavours, additives and preservatives, which are seriously not good for little
tummies. With a few simple ideas and recipes up your sleeve, it is possible to create a party for
the little ones that is fun, delicious AND healthy.

First things first – keep it simple. There are a lot of interesting things you can do with fruit and
vegetables that will catch the eye of little party go-ers, and you really need to add just a couple of
savoury and sweet (healthy) treats, and you have satisfied little minis and happier parents who get
to avoid the sugar crash!

Looking for ideas? Try these Healthy Chocolate Crackles – an old-time childhood favourite! It’s
simple yet delicious, and is just as much of a hit at parties today as it ever was. Better yet, it
contains wholefoods, is refined-sugar, gluten-free, vegan, and is free of nasties. They also store
well in the fridge or freezer so you can make them at least a couple of weeks in advance and not
have to panic the day before the party. Try them at your next party, they’re guaranteed to be a
hit.

Healthy chocolate crackles

Ingredients

  • 4 cups rice bubbles (100% organic brown puffed rice)
  • 1/2 cup (activated) almond meal
  • 2 tablespoons raw cacao powder
  • 130g coconut oil (melted)
  • 120g raw honey or rice malt syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Tip: Activate nuts and seeds in advance, store them in the freezer and when a recipe calls for it,
mill them to a meal. Activating seeds and nuts improves digestion and maximises nutrient
absorption, it also makes them taste better.
